Dry Stone Court
A walled court with a moon gate and a fire pit, built stone by stone in 3D. The masonry would not pass a mason. The render is the point.
What it was for
A study in rendering and process, not in masonry. I wanted to see how real a scene could look when it is built entirely from scripts, with every stone in the walls, the moon gate and the paving as its own piece. A working stonemason would spot the problems in a second, because this is not how a wall like this gets built. It was never meant to be a plan. It is a picture, and as a picture it holds up.
What I made
- A walled court with a moon gate, an arched doorway, curved benches and a fire pit
- The setting around it: trees, planting, a path and evening light
- A 20 second film that walks through the moon gate, turns around the court and rises overhead
- Four stills at full size
